The benefits offered by inverter ACs
The inverter
technology in air conditioners has an electrical device called ‘inverter’ which
converts fixed frequency electricity to a variable frequency. This allows the
compressor of the inverter AC to run at different speed to save
electricity. For instance, a 1.5-ton inverter split AC becomes 0.3 ton by
running at a low speed. Since an inverter AC varies its cooling tonnage output
according to the load, it turns out to be extremely efficient and saves
electricity usage.
Thus, in this
article we will point out the various advantages of an inverter split AC over
the traditional one-
- Reduced electricity bills:
An inverter
split air-conditioner can save up to 40 percent electricity as compared to the
traditional model. According to physics, the frictional losses are more at
higher speeds. It varies according to the square of the velocity. Therefore,
this is how an inverter technology turns out to be more efficient than a normal
one, thereby saving electricity.
On the other
hand, a normal air conditioner starts and stops regularly. The starting current
drawn is very high as it has to overcome the inertia forces of the static mass.
Therefore, since an inverter compressor does not stop during operation, it
turns out to be the efficient machine.
- Steady and constant cooling offered by inverter split AC:
A non-inverter
technology cools the room by about -2 degrees Celsius from the set temperature
and then turns the compressor off. For example, if the thermostat is set at 23
degrees Celsius, the temperature will be reduced to 21 degrees Celsius. After
that, its only the fan of the air conditioner that keeps functioning. After a
while, when the temperature of the room increases, the compressor starts
working again. However, in case of an inverter split air conditioner, there is
no swing of temperature fluctuation. They only show a difference of maximum 1
degree Celsius than the set temperature. So, whereas a normal AC makes the room
either too hot or cold, an inverter technology maintains a constant cooling,
thereby allowing a peaceful sleep at night.
- Inverter technology offers silent machines:
Inverter air
conditioners are extremely silent. Since they work in low speed, they are much
more silent. In inverter split ACs, leaving aside the low-compressor noise,
there is no noise emitted in the room. In fact, there are no noises produced
from the rush of Freon gas into the AC evaporator fan.
Now, that we know the benefits of inverter technology, the next question that arises is which is the best inverter AC? Um, well, deciphering which the best is not all that easy. However, with inverter technology taking the market by storm, it can undoubtedly be claimed that ACs with inverter technology are definitely the better option than the normal ones. If you haven’t changed your AC yet, I bet it’s time to do so!
